HOW TO RECOGNIZE DIABETES IN CHILDREN?

Diabetes in children: unfortunately you hear it more and more. Diabetes is also known as diabetes mellitus. Type 1 is most common in children. But what exactly does that mean? And how can you tell if your child has diabetes? We list a few things for you.

WHAT ARE DIABETES?

THE FIRST SYMPTOMS OF DIABETES

Once a child has been diagnosed with diabetes, it is extremely important that he or she receives appropriate treatment as soon as possible. You can have your son or daughter's blood sugar level checked at the doctor's office and the diagnosis can be made on the basis of this. The intensity of the symptoms can be different for everyone. These symptoms may be the first signs of diabetes:

Frequent and frequent urination (sometimes bedwetting)
● Intense thirst and excessive drinking (even at night)
● Losing weight without a clear reason
● Being overtired without explanation
● Impaired vision

In addition, it is possible that your child will develop a hypo or hyper. With a hypo there is too little sugar in the body. You can recognize this by: sweating, shaking, getting headaches and getting dizzy. With a hyper, there is just too much sugar in the body. TREATMENT OF DIABETES IN CHILDREN

Unfortunately, childhood diabetes is no longer an issue. The symptoms can be reduced by injecting insulin. This can be done in two ways: via an insulin pen or with an insulin pump. TEST IF YOUR CHILD HAS DIABETES

Is your child at extra risk for diabetes and do you recognize many of the symptoms? Then make an appointment with your GP. The doctor can see with one drop of blood whether your child has diabetes. It is important to start treatment as soon as possible if you have diabetes.
